United states marines sing a hymn that has been sung since the late 1800s. The first verse goes as follows:
From the Halls of Montezuma
To the shores of Tripoli;
We fight our country’s battles
In the air, on land, and sea;
First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean;
We are proud to claim the title
Of United States Marine.
When this song was penned the atrocity of Benghazi wasn’t a thought in the mind of the writers, but for those that know geography and history it rings eerily true on memorial day.
Young men and women from the beginning of this great nation have laid their lives down for our freedom. On Memorial Day we recognize and honor those that have laid the red stripes on our flag with their lifeblood. That freedom is eroding like the fairway in Utah, very rapidly.
Most ‘Mericans treat today much like the fourth of July. Unfortunately, the intent of Memorial day hasn’t been honored by every American. We should be remembering the cost of freedom and take it to heart. I guarantee you the soldiers who guard the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier don’t forget for a second the cost paid by their brethren.
Therefore, to honor those great and brave people that have spent their last breath for you, get involved in local politics. If only so we can stop the endless wars that kill our neighbors and their children. May God shine favorably on those who laid their lives down, and may he show our country a little continued grace so we can bring The United States back to an honorable nation.
