Grief is faced by all who draw breath. Many things can cause this deep sadness, from divorce to death. The loss of a loved one is possibly the hardest hitting thing the human heart can go through. Because we were created as eternal beings death is not something we are designed to face. The emotional toll that death charges is steep. Mike Weaver lead guitarist and singer of Big Daddy Weave lost his brother and bandmate Jay at the beginning of 2022. At Brave church on the last Saturday in March Big Daddy Weave took the stage after a phenomenal performance from Ryan Ellis. These artists were not the focus of the night. Christ remained the spotlight. That light shined brightest in two areas, the life of Jay and Mike Weaver.
Jay was a very beloved man of God.
During the performance Mike decided to highlight some stories about his brother and the enormous faith he had. He also spoke about how Jay witnessed healing in front of him constantly and believed that he would see it for himself. “he would remove the covers every morning believing that God would give him new legs.” That is some pretty serious faith. Well now he has a new body, one that can no longer succumb to sickness. During the show Mike in between songs mentioned that he “missed him real bad tonight.”. His feeling of loss is understandable after over two decades of touring and serving the Lord together.
The healing power of Christ
Though Jay wasn’t healed in this life, he was a catalyst of the Holy Spirit to reach into the lives of many. Just hours after his brother went to meet the Lord Mike shared this.

Mike was still praising the Lord. The healing offered by Christ is something out of this world. Yeah he healed the sick and lame. But he can heal a mans heart. That is a true miracle. All healing found outside of him is still ordained by him as he is the Great Physician. Mike Weaver is still touring with out his brother. Doing so this soon after his loss shows the strength, hope, and healing that is found in Christ Jesus.
