Memorial Day: Gone never forgotten

250 years of American grit has given us a pretty nice life. This wasn’t conjured overnight rather built over generations into the best nation on earth. Though we can sing America’s praise near endlessly today is not for that. This Memorial Day we remember those who valiantly gave their life in defense of this nation.

History of Memorial day

After the Civil War in which 620,00 Americans died in the fight to end slavery eventually people began decorating the graves of soldiers in the spring time. This eventually became known as “decoration day” but was later made a Federal Holiday with the official name of Memorial Day in 1971. Memorial day continues to be celebrated by Americans of all persuasions. There is some evidence to suggest one of the first memorial day ceremonies was done by freed slaves.

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13 KJV
