Coloradans will face one of the heaviest statewide ballots in decades this November. Fourteen measures. Most of them citizen-driven. This is what happens when the legislature refuses to listen.

Several stand out as clear tests of whether we still believe in biological reality, the protection of the vulnerable, and basic public safety.

Proposition 134

requires K-12 and collegiate sports teams to be based on biological sex. Boys play with boys. Girls play with girls. Co-ed remains an option. This is not complicated. It is fairness. It is safety. It is reality. Girls should not have to compete against males who have gone through male puberty. The science of sex differences is not bigotry, it is biology. A society that cannot defend its daughters has already lost the plot.

Proposition 135

prohibits surgeries on minors intended to alter biological sex characteristics. It also blocks the use of state funds, federal funds, Medicaid, or insurance to pay for them. Children cannot consent to irreversible procedures. Parents and doctors who rush them into medicalization under social pressure are not “affirming” they are experimenting. Twenty-five other states have already drawn this line. Colorado should join them. “Suffer the little children” does not mean sterilize them.

Amendment 81

requires law enforcement to notify the Department of Homeland Security when charging someone with a violent crime (or any crime if they have a prior felony) if the person’s lawful presence cannot be determined. This is not a mass deportation order. It is targeted cooperation on people who have already broken the law. Colorado’s current sanctuary rules have tied the hands of local officers. That ends if voters say yes.

Other strong measures include tougher penalties for fentanyl dealing (Proposition 132), life without parole for trafficking a child for sexual servitude (Proposition 133), a constitutional right to natural gas for heating and cooking (Amendment 82), a constitutional right to hunt and fish (Amendment 83), and a hard 4.4% income tax rate cap (Proposition 136) that would block the progressive graduated tax scheme in Amendment 87.

The progressive left will scream that these are “attacks.” They are not. They are corrections. When the legislature will not protect girls’ sports, will not protect children from irreversible medical harm, and will not allow police to work with federal authorities on criminal aliens, the people have every right to act.

This ballot is a rare chance to push back against ideology with common sense and moral clarity. Read the measures carefully. Talk to your neighbors. Then vote like the future of this state depends on it—because it does.
